Even though the systems are the same as far as make/model is concerned, the big alarm companies take regular professional off-the-shelf equipment local companies use, and have the main chip inside made special with their central station number burned into the firmware of the chip, making any kind of reprogramming into a new Central Station useless...

The DSC Alexor Home Security/Alarm System is a 2-way wireless system that mounts on the wall and interfaces with a wireless sirens and wireless keypad (Tabletop and/or Wallmount). This keypad is wireless and will not disarm/disable the system even if it is ripped off the wall or destroyed. This system supports a 2-way remote, proximity tag for one-touch arm/disarm. Communications is through a standard RJ-31X Jack (Customer to Provide) and can interface with IP Monitoring (Internet Monitoring) and GSM Monitoring (Cellular) as primary or back-up reporting.

If you must use a tabletop alarm the others offer, please place the unit in a locked closet/room/etc to prevent/delay access to the unit and use a wireless key fob to arm/disarm the unit... RGS
